OIA and the Arizona Health Sciences Library are hosting two sessions that will provide attendees with information on how to get materials into iTunes U and Arizona YouTube, and an explanation of why you should use these resources.

Both these sessions are being held in the Health Sciences LIbrary classroom, 2102.

The first session in on Wednesday March 10 at 3pm and is titled "The UA's iTunes U: 90,000 visitors a week and growing". 

OIA has made available two new modules for Graduate Teaching Assistants. These are part of the TATO (Teaching Assistants Tutorials Online) online offerings.

Gary Mackender and the Virtual Reality Annex have been doing some exciting work imaging objects and areas. 

Congratulations to Kyla Macario for having had her workshop proposal "Front Loading your students: Increasing reflection, critical thinking and participation,” accepted for The Teaching Professor Conference, which takes place in Atlanta, May 20-22, 2011. Way to go!

For the Spring 2011 semester OIA staff are teaching the following courses:

We at OIA have found it difficult finding images to use on our websites or designs, so we decided to come up with our very own photo repository that is properly tagged for easy searching.  We also have plenty photographers in our department to keep our collection growing.

D2L has been a helpful tool for both teachers and students, but when a class does not have one, some students say it can make their lives more difficult.

The UA Office of Instruction and Assessment invites all faculty and others interested in instructional practices, technologies, planning, or assessment to register for a Teaching Academy seminar,  meet our consultants, and see examples of OIA’s resources for support of teaching.

Teaching Academy – Thursday, January 6 2011 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Once again the OIA will offer a day of seminars on a variety of topics geared towards faculty and all who teach on the UofA campus.

The seminars take place on Thursday January 6, 2011 starting at 9am and running into the afternoon.  The 7 seminars that are offered cover topics such as online instruction, the difference between face to face and online teaching, engaging students in the classroom, classroom feedback and cooperative learning.
