Online Workshop: Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR)

For those that are interested in learning more about approaches and techniques for assessing and ensuring quality online course design, The Office of Digital Learning is offering a free workshop - Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR). Created by the nationally-recognized Quality Matters organization and facilitated by the UA, the workshop serves as a brief intro to the quality rubric and how you can use it to evaluate course design. Participants who have completed the training cite that they have greatly appreciated the tangible action items they’ve been able to apply to their own course design work, as well as the opportunity to liaise with their colleagues on new approaches to online design. The course is a primer on the work of the Quality Matters (QM) organization, a faculty-centered, peer review process that is designed to certify the quality of online course design. As a QM-affiliated institution, we highly recommend that you learn more about the peer review process through this workshop, and on the QM website. Courses offered through UA Online are peer reviewed using the QM rubric, and taking part in this workshop will provide insight into the peer review process and the ways in which our office helps to support the continuous improvement of online course design.

The online version of the APPQMR will be offered November 1-15; this is an asynchronous version, with approximately 20 hours of work to complete in the fully, online course. This is a great option for faculty, graduate assistant teachers and staff who would like to work asynchronously and are interested participating in course reviews on campus in the future.
