I’d like to invite you to an Everyone Can Code presentation my team is hosting next Thursday, October 19 at the UA BookStore (main level) from 12:30 PM-2:00 PM. Apple consulting engineer, Steve Hayman, and Apple Development Executive, Brian Peterson, will be on campus presenting Swift Xcode and the curriculum available for Kindergarten-College as a part of Apple’s Everyone Can Code focus.
You may have seen last week, Ohio State announced their digital learning initiative- a wonderful new program that will support student educational innovation for students and economic development opportunities in the community.
https://news.osu.edu/news/2017/10/04/digital-flagship/ They are leveraging Apple’s Swift iOS app development curriculum to provide their students with the digital literacy and app development experience that will allow them to build apps for their campus and and community.
More locally, Mesa Community College in Mesa, AZ has launched their iOS mobile app development lab and teaching their Computer Science Class using Apple’s free curriculum (I am a student in this class!). They are interested in working with ASU and Mesa Public Schools for pathways/dual enrollment and summer campus/outreach opportunities teaching k-20 students the Swift iOS app development curriculum. Here’s a fun media piece on MCC’s program: https://goo.gl/M4WCKm
We’re also seeing some 4 year schools and community colleges use Apple’s curriculum for K-12 outreach, camps, etc.
Would you mind sharing this event with your team and asking that anyone interested in attending next Thursday, please register here: https://goo.gl/5dsg2S
