Designing Student Peer Review Activities (workshop) Register for Waitlist
This workshop has reached its quota
**Please note: This is a two part workshop. The two sessions are complementary and build on each other - they are not duplicate sessions of the same workshop. To maximize learning and interactions with peers, please plan to participate in both workshop sessions.**
Who? Lindsay Hansen (Asst. Prof. of Practice), Brad Jacobson (Writing Support Specialist), and you.
What? Participants in this two-part workshop will discuss strategies that help students provide useful feedback, address practical concerns, and design a peer review activity for their course.
When & Where? Thursday, October 18th and October 25th | 12:30-2:00 p.m. | ILC 103A (conference room in the OIA main offices). Lunch provided. Space is limited. Registration will be limited to 11 participants.
Why & How? Incorporating peer review into an assignment supports writing instruction through a student-led process of feedback and revision. Part 1 of the workshop introduces instructors to research-based strategies for designing effective and engaging peer review and a process for planning peer review activities. Part 2 addresses practical concerns around implementing a peer review, and options for facilitating the activity.
By the end of the workshop series, participants will have designed a peer review activity, built it into their course sites, and leave ready to facilitate a peer review activity in their course this semester.
