Documenting your Professional Development

How can you document your professional development?

For instructors

Certificate from UAccess Learning

OIA Certificates of Completion represent your participation in and completion of minimum requirements for a professional development offering. Certificates can be viewed, downloaded, or printed from UAccess Learning by both the employee and their unit supervisors. Completion is certified by OIA personnel.

Capstone Project Badges represent achievement for an individual teaching & learning project as part of a professional development offering. Badges can be viewed and shared digitally, and include a description of the achievement and a link to capstone project artifacts. Capstone Project badges are issued by OIA personnel.

For instructors & students

D2L New Student Orientation Certificate of Completion represents completion of a self-guided tutorial demonstrating the student experience in D2L. While created for students, many instructors find the tutorial useful for learning about the student experience in D2L. Certificates can be viewed, downloaded, or printed from the Awards tab on your D2L homepage. Completion is certified automatically in D2L. Also, within this tutorial are a variety of D2L Badges that can be earned.

Why document professional development?

Documentation of professional development helps track your own learning, serves as evidence of  professional development of teaching for promotion dossiers and annual performance reviews, demonstrates fulfillment of departmental requirements, or communicates your professional accomplishments and interests to your professional social networks.
